Ever since they were in the initial days of their existence, Lionel model trains have improved a great deal. Though keeping true to its original design consisting of working lights, sounds and even smoke, these trains continue to improve with the progression of the real trains that we see today. With the Towercom audio feature, your train set will come to life with an electronic voice calling out commands such as “you’re clear for departure” as well as the specific information associated with whichever locomotive is presently on your track! Advances in the smoke functions allow plumes of smoke correlated to the shaft’s wheel revolution! The realistic nature of their trains has always been part of Lionel reputation and the most modern model trains are more genuine than any of the past. No matter what model scale you collect, such as Traditional or Standard O, Lionel manufactures it. The capabilities to the realism of your train set are illimitable, thanks to the continual innovations in model train technology.

Be sure your son or daughter is old enough to operate a Lionel model train before deciding to acquire one. If your child is five years of age or younger, it is essential to supervise their time spent with their toy train set at all times. Introducing your children to the exciting world of model trains from an early age can lead to a treasured life-long hobby. The possibilities for expansion of these model train sets are so boundless, that adding on to your set could be an ongoing obsession. New models, locomotives, cars, and buildings will always be available on the market.

So it doesn’t matter whether you’re an avid collector, or somebody new to the model train industry; Lionel makes trains that appeal to anyone’s and everyone’s needs.

Building model railways is a hobby enjoyed by people of all ages. Both parents and children can get a lot out of building and operating model rail systems.

The Hornby name has been synonymous with top quality model railway systems since 1920 when Frank Hornby introduced his first, clockwork train. This early model was powered with a clockwork, wind up motor. Hornby soon introduced an electric model that required a mains supply of 100 to 250 volts. Hornby subsequently developed a far safer system that used a potential of only 6 volts.

There are many, varied Hornby train sets, from beginner level through to enthusiast. Interacting with your children is enormously beneficial for them and a model train system can provide the basis for that interaction. It provides a basis for communication, cooperation and can be immensely educational. Its also a fantastic way for parents to engage and bond with their children.

Once built a model railway provides a fantastic stimulus for creative play. Children can use their imaginations to make up stories about the trains and people around the track. A few accessories like buildings and model people can really bring the railway system alive.

Play is well known to be essential in a childs development. Parents playing with their children is particularly beneficial. Playing with your children is one of the best ways to learn about them. You will find out what interests them, where they have particular skills and what concerns them. Encouraging your child to make up stories that involve their model railway system is a great way to stimulate their creativity. It’s also an excellent way to see how your child is developing.

I recall the fun I had building a model rail system with my father. He clearly enjoyed the process of setting up the track and getting the system working and his enthusiasm was infectious. He and I would make up elaborate stories involving the people around the track, the stations and the trains.

So if you are looking for a way to interact with your young children I suggest that you consider a little train set.
