Although a craft not as old as other needle arts, knitting has a long history and currently used tools and techniques have come quite some distance from nalbinding (nalbinding employs the thumb and a needle as tools for looping). Examples of nalbinding dating from the third century have been found in destroyed Roman outposts. Evidence of nalbinding is also found in early Scandinavian cultures.

Older examples, dating from the Iron Age (400 B.C. – 1 B.C.) have also been discovered. Knitted socks dating back to the fourth to fifth century A.D. as on display in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Some of the first knitted gloves had been produced by the thirteenth century. Luxury knitting for Liturgcal clothing such as gloves was state of the art.

Queen Elizabeth I preferred knitted silk stockings, and with good reason: Knitting adds flexibility to a garment even while adding warmth. Knitted stockings were worn mostly by men, however. An appetite for knitted stockings spread through the Royals of the time, which created a growing guild of knitters throughout Europe. However, it wasn’t long before knitted hosery was the preference of the masses, and a competitive hand-production throughout England was underway with peasants willing to knit for low wages. Fashions change, and men started to wear long pants during the time of the French Revolution, and that brought a swift end to the peasants’ trade due to the reduced demand for the long hose.

The knitted sweater is quite young as a form of garment; the first known sweaters date back only to the seventeenth century. Fishermen word hand-knitted sweaters so they could stay warm and free to move about their boats without being caught on the rigging and other parts of the boat. Sweaters knit for and worn by fishermen were known as Guernseys or Ganseys. Each village had its signature pattern. Sadly, one of the reasons for this was to help identify the bodies of men who had died at sea.

Knitwear’s popularity increased as the Industrial Revolution allowed for more leisure time for the wealthy. Men found that playing gold or tennis was much more comfortable in flexible knitting clothing rather than stiff woven fabrics. Women of today who enjoy the freedom of knitted clothing can thank the wives of those wealthy golf-club swinging men. The women of leisure enjoyed sports as well and quickly abandoned the corset in favor of the comfort of knitted garments.

Knitting found is way to America with the Puritans and was taught to all young girls, no only to prevent the evil dangers of idle hands, but to teach a valuable skill that could provide income. Once knitting in factories was in play, hand knitting became a pastime rather than a necessity for middle and upper class women. Social class was not to be ignored, however. Since peasants still also knitted, a class line was drawn in that the leisure knitters developed new ways to hold their needles so as to not be associated with the lower social strata.

Eventually knitting became a medium for creative expression and fashion statements. Colorful and different pattens emerged as the art circled the globe. Coco Chanel introduced her first collection of knitted clothing in 1916, made from surplus knitted fabric intended for undergarments.

Knitting has its own language today, including abbreviations, guage sizes, increases and decreases, special stitches, and shaping symbols. There is a plethora of tools and gadgets available to assist the knitting enthusiast, and a wide variety of knitting needles is also available. Even the simple knitting needle, once only a thumb tip or a branch of a tree, is now a basis for decoration and ornamentation. As with everything else we do, we like to leave our mark. Although not often found in a mass merchandise or larger chain craft stores, an internet search for decorative knitting needles can turn up hundreds of options: Needles with beads that look similar to hat pins on the button end, some have wire coiled around the last 1/2 inch of the needle, some are decorated with polymer clay beads. Filigree caps and other decorative jewelry findings can also make attractive embellishments for knitting needles.

When decorating knitting needles, there are a number of concerns that need to be taken into consideration. You don’t want the finding or embellishment to be getting in the way of the yarn, which leaves the button end of the needle the only place available for easy decorating. Challenges arise in decorating plastic knitting needles because the ability to use a head pin or any sort of sharp point to hold findings or beads is eliminated, therefore embellishments can only be affixed with glue or another adhesive. Since knitting needles come in so many shapes and sizes with the buttons also being of different shapes, it makes it very hard to standardize the decorating unless you use a beading technique on wooden needles. Decorated knitting needles can certainly be as extravagant as the user wants them to be within the limitations of obstructing the ability to knit efficiently.

Organized supplies are essential to getting more pages done when scrapbooking. There’s probably nothing more frustrating than having to search for just the right piece of paper or rubber stamp when you’re trying to create scrapbooking page layouts. Many people find that investing in scrapbook storage cabinets can be a tremendous help, but before you run out and buy the most expensive one or the first one you see, take some time to shop around and make sure you get one that’s perfect for you.

For example, some scrapbooking storage cabinets are made to look like a piece of furniture in your home and not just a plain cabinet. This is a plus if your scrapbooking storage cabinets are going to be placed in a living room or other main room of the house, but these cabinets usually do cost more.If you are going to put the cabinet in a closet, you can choose something less fancy and more affordable.

No matter what the appearance of scrapbook storage cabinets you need it for organizing scrapbooking supplies in a functional and practical way. You will need to note what the cabinet’s features are. Are you the type to add all your own embellishments and elements to your pages? Then you need many small sections and room for containers to hold all your stickers, stamps, and so on.Some scrapbooking storage cabinets are very simple and basic, and they only have shelves. For paper and cardstock, this works very well, but it isn’t so practical or functional for small items like embellishments.

Check around your home for shelving units that you might be able to easily convert into scrapbook storage cabinets. Usually you need more shelves than they already have because you want to organize all your papers. You can easily add some additional shelves in between the ones you already have. Many scrapbookers also discover they can design their own scrapbook storage cabinets with small containers appropriately sized to store their embellishments. If you’re handy with a drill you can permanently attach these to walls or doors of the cabinets, or you can simply use some strong glue.Designing your own containers might be a fun project. You can create large envelopes out of cardstock or decorative empty food containers, like margarine tubs, to store some items. By converting your own scrapbook storage cabinets you can make something that really works for you personally.

Knitting really caught on in Europe in the Middle Ages. With the growing popularity of knitted stockings, knitting became a household occupation. Apparently as many as two million pairs of stockings were exported from Britain to other parts of Europe by the end of the 1600’s. It was Britain that invented and perfected knitting frames and machines. Knitting in Europe has quite a history.

When knitting caught on in Europe, it was quickly established as a true craft. The craft flourished in Scotland and England in the 14th and 15th centuries. In medieval Europe hand knitting had become an advanced craft by the 16th century. The first knitting trade guild, (the first trade union devoted to knitting professionals) was started in Paris in 1527. Guilds controlled the manufacture of and market for knitted goods during the Middle Ages. After the clergyman William Lee perfected a machine to knit stockings in England in 1589, the art of knitting gradually became a guild organized cottage industry.

Knitted garments became fashionable for the wealthy upper class, and silk gloves and stockings were highly prized. Knitting cottage industries sprang up throughout Britain and intricate techniques were perfected. Records show that the first sweaters were knit in the 17th century; before that smaller pieces and undergarments were knit.

William Lee, who invented the first knitting machine in 1589, also made a knitting frame which was so effective that few improvements were needed for 250 years. English people also created a ribbing device in 1748, a warp-knitting machine in 1775, and a circular knitting machine in the mid-1800’s. These developments made possible the shaping of hosiery and other pieces of clothing. By the 19th century machine-knitted underclothes were common. It was in 1864 that a full-fashioned knitting machine was invented by William Cotton, and it used the same bearded-spring needle as William Lee’s original model. Changes to the knitting machines in the 1900’s increased their production speeds and offered wider choice in patterning the knitted fabrics. Now we have computer controlled knitting machines that offer greater versatility in our knitting.

To compete with the speed of the new knitting machines, many of the cottage industries started to knit garments in flat pieces which were sewn together; they worked piecemeal. Hand knitting, however, lost its ability to compete with knitting machines in the marketplace even with these faster techniques. Knitting as an art and a craft was kept alive only as a hobby

Different places in Europe created different types of knitting. Fair Isle knitting, which uses two colors stranded into intricate patterns, comes from a group of islands north of Britain. The earliest examples of this technique are thought to have been knitted around 1850. There is a legend that Fair Isle knitting was created in 1588 when a Spanish ship was wrecked off Fair Isle and the crew inspired the native knitters to try new ways of putting colors in a pattern. Fair Isle knitting became popular when the Prince of Wales wore a Fair Isle sweater at a public event in 1921.

Knitting caught on in Europe quickly and spread rapidly. Royalty and the upper class made knitted garments very fashionable. Knitting has gone through trade guilds and cottage industries, and the invention and improvement of knitting machines.
Even though knitting machines have advanced greatly in the last 500 years or so, however, hand knitting is still very much alive, as a very popular hobby.

This article just gives a brief insight to how the demand for knitted items through the ages has necessitated the growth and development of the commercial knitting factories that have grown up all over the world.

Knitting factories play an important role in worldwide garment production as well as in the production of tools for knitting. .

How it all started ……….
The mechanization of what had been solely hand made knitted product came about with the arrival of the Renaissance and the advances in metalworking . this change led to the first mass production of knitting needles, and then the formation of all-male knitting guilds. Soon after, however, came the invention of knitting machines, which led to knitting mills and the guild hand-knitter wasn’t so important anymore. Supplanted by other forms of fine needlework that could not yet be reproduced by machine, fine hand-knitting was rendered obsolete. By the Victorian era, hand-knitting had become one of the domestic arts, practiced mainly by the poor, the rural, and predominately a female past-time

If we think at the 21st century, knitting has transformed into a largely recreational activity, rediscovered by a new generation. However, it is mainly a recreational activity because now no one has to knit in order to make his own clothes, as there are so many places where anyone can afford mass produced clothes.

China has the lead …………
You can find knitting factories all over the world. However, China is a major supplier of knitted fabrics and that is where we find many knitting factories there.
To give you just some idea of the vastness of some of these operations, here’s just a little background into a couple of them:

Foshan Huilin knitting factory located in China(mainland) is a factory that specializes in the production of weft-knitted fabrics. It covers an area of 6,000 square meters and was founded in 1991. This knitting factory produces many types of knitted fabrics , such as cotton fabrics polyester fabrics, acrylic fabrics, rayon fabrics, TC and CVC fabrics. After 15 years development and growth this knitting factory is equipped with 8 large double knitting tubular machines, 25 imported large single knitting tubular machines, 18 rib tubular knitting machines, 6 terry tubular knitting machines and 3 tube opening machines.

Hence, this knitting factory’s monthly output of various knitted fabrics reaches up to 1,000 metric tons. The products coming from this knitting factory is sold in more than 50 countries and regions all over the world. professionalism ,
The owners of this knitting factory have expanded their operations, establishing two subsidiary companies Rising Textile Co., Ltd. and Taifeng Knitting Co., Ltd. To expand their production facilities still further.

Established in 1995, Ningbo Tianyu Knitting Factory is located in Ningbo ,a city near Shanghai. They are among the major domestic knitting manufacturers, supplying knit fabrics and garments.
Weft knitting equipment has been purchased from Taiwan . Warp knitting facilities, dyeing and finishing machines are imported from Germany. This knitting factory produces knitted fabric products that include weft knitting and warp knitting. This knitting factory provides customers with knitted garments including T-shirts, polo shirts, kid’s wear, men’s wear and women’s wear. Their main weft knitted products are spandex cotton jersey fabrics, cotton jersey fabrics, interlock fabrics, ribs, terry fabrics and fleece fabrics. They also supply warp knitted products , such as printed suede, polyester tricots, loop piles, swimwear fabrics and meshes.

These factories are massive, employing 1000’s of workers producing huge quantities of fabric and garments to satisfy the global demand. It is interesting to note that many items not necessarily considered as “being knitted” in the conventionally sense are indeed knitted as illustrated above.

Did you ever enjoy texture of yarns in your hand or wondering how that interesting color pattern was created in your favorite sweater? Then you will surely have fun learning the art of knitting. Knitting is one of several ways to turn thread or yarn into cloth-weaving and crochet. It’s all about creativity.

The Introductory Steps of Knitting

Unlike woven fabric, knitted fabric consists entirely of horizontal parallel courses of yarn. The courses are joined to each other by interlocking loops in which a short loop of one course of yarn is wrapped over the bight of another course. Knitting can be done either by hand, described below, or by machine. What makes knitting even more exciting is the fact that this art can be easily learned.

In practice, hand knitting is usually begun by forming a base series of twisted loops of yarn on a needle. This is called Cast On. A second knitting needle is then used to reach through each loop in succession in order to snag a bight of yarn and pull a length back through the loop. This forms a new stitch. Work can proceed in the round (circular knitting) or by going back and forth in rows. Knitting can also be done by machines, which use a different mechanical system to produce nearly identical results.

Knitting Styles: There are two basic styles of knitting; English and Continental. The difference between the two is in how you hold the yarn. In the English method the yarn is held in the right hand. In continental knitting, the yarn is held in the left hand. Whatever your natural hand-preference, you should be able to master either method because the nature of knitting is basically ambidextrous.

The two basic stitches are knit or plain and purl or wrong. These two nominal stitches are actually identical, however, being the obverse and reverse of the same stitch. It is the variations and combinations of these two stitches that create all the different stitch patterns which are possible in knitting. Typically, a knit stitch is formed by inserting the needle in the front of the loop from a left-to-right perspective and pulling a loop of yarn through to form a new loop, while a purl stitch is formed by inserting the needle in the front of the loop from a right-to-left perspective.

A piece of knitting begins with the process of casting on, which involves the initial creation of the stitches on the needle. Casting on is the first step in knitting These stitches become the first row of stitches and one selvage of your work, usually the bottom or hem.

Different methods of cast on are used for different effects; one may be stretchy enough for lace, while another provides a decorative edging. Provisional cast on is used when the knitting will continue in both directions from the cast on.

The body of a knitted piece may include plain stitches or a number of colors and textured patterns. The number of active stitches remains the same as when cast on unless stitches are added -an increase or removed- a decrease to shape the item.

Patterns to Knit (Way to Online Income): There are lots of people who sit at home and publish great knitting patters from home. Since over the years they have collected and modified many knitting patterns. They make a great income by selling/publishing the patterns on the net. Once you have enough practice, even you could make some online income.

Many patterns can be made by using knit and purl stitches in various combinations. If only knits or only purls are used when working back and forth in rows, the result is called garter stitch.

Alternating rows of knits and purls result in stockinette stitch, also known as stocking or jersey stitch, the stitch most often used in commercial garments such as T-shirts. Different combinations of stitches can be used to form ribbing, cables, or other textures.

Once the knitted piece is finished, the remaining live stitches are cast off. Casting or binding off loops the stitches across each other so they can be removed from the needle without unraveling the item. Although the mechanics are different from casting on, there are a similar variety of methods and choices to be made. Of the various methods the most versatile are the Plain Bind-off and the Suspended Bind-off.

Knitted garments are most commonly made in pieces, where individual sections of the garment are knit separately and then sewn together once all the pieces have been completed. Seamless knitting, where a whole garment is knit as a single piece is also possible. Smaller items, such as socks and hats are usually knit in one piece on double pointed needles.

Knitting can be easily learned these days as there are many websites on knitting and also various books for beginners available on the market, where you can find step by step instructions. These instructions are so easy to follow that even kids would not find them difficult at all. Show your creativity, grab your knitting tools and learn to knit today!

Knitting

Of all the different types of needlework, knitting is one of the most popular. Knitting is a specific type of needlework that is identified by the process of looped stitches pulled through one another. Knitting is commonly used to make clothing and accessories such as hats, scarves, sweaters and gloves, as well as blankets and afghans. Most commercially produced knitted items are made with knitting machines; their high speed is indispensable for meeting the demands of the world economy. Knitting machines have not done away with human knitting, however; far from it, knitting has gone through a recent resurgence in popularity as a craft and hobby.

One of the great things about knitting is that you can make a wide variety of items with the same relatively simple steps. Just select a different type of yarn and a different variation in your stitch, and you can come up with a very different end product.

The origins of knitting

Archaeologists have found evidence of knitting as far back as the first millennium. Obviously, knitting has been around for a long time. Indeed, even the ancient Egyptians are known to have knitted colorful socks and other accessories. It is generally thought that the first peoples to use knitting to make blankets and clothing were the ancient Arabians.

The history of knitting was pretty straightforward until the invention of the knitting machine. The knitting machine completely changed the purpose of knitting. Before the industrialization of knitting, it was an essential task for many families, a means to keep warm and clothed. After the knitting machine, blankets and clothing were mass-produced far more cheaply than any one person making it. For this reason, knitting today is primarily a recreational pursuit. Knitters enjoy gathering together to socialize. People love to knit because it can be an extremely relaxing way to pass the time and ease one’s nerves. The products of their pastimes are often presented as gifts, which can save you some money as well.

The demographics of knitting are changing as well. Knitting used to be the sole preserve of primarily older women. More and more, however, knitting is becoming popular with younger generations. Indeed, some studies show that knitting has risen in popularity among the 25 to 35 age group by as much as 150%.

Different types of knitting

The two main types of straight-needle knitting are weft knitting and warp knitting. Weft knitting requires only one string of yarn at time, but can be more susceptible to snags and runs. Warp knitting, on the other hand, is usually done by machine, so when most people think of knitting, they are usually thinking of weft knitting. Another important type of knitting that is commonly done by hand is circular knitting. This method uses a circular needle, and creates a “tube” of yarn when completed – great for socks and other tubular garments.

What materials do you need to start knitting?

Knitting is an ancient and rudimentary craft. As such, the materials that you need to knit are fairly basic; when it comes down to it, all you need to knit is some needles and some yarn. You should pay close attention to the type of yarn you use, however, as it will have a significant impact on how your final product looks and feels. For instance, certain yarns are appropriate for stretchy materials, while other yarns will produce less stretchy, more solid final results. The width and thickness of the yarn should be taken into account when selecting knitting needles to use. Picking out the yarn can be one of the more pleasant steps in making an item, as knitting yarn comes in a variety of colors and styles and it is always fun to play around with your imagination. Some are solid colors, others have multiple colors for striping, and others include sparkles and other embellishments.

Knitting resources

The best thing for those serious about knitting is to join a knitting circle. In a knitting circle, members will meet with their yarn and needles at the home of different members or local coffee shop and just knit, share tips, and socialize.

If you are on your own, you can always turn to the Internet for a wealth of knitting resources. Groups, forums, and message boards provide a means of communication and getting together for knitters. Through these avenues, many knitting enthusiasts share tips, techniques, patterns, and tales of successful projects. The Internet is also a great place to order knitting materials and patterns, and can help novice knitters get past some of the challenges that face those new to the craft.

Craft and hobby stores will also carry a robust selection of knitting needles, yarns and patterns. Do not be afraid to ask employees in these stores for help – more often than not, you will be able to find experienced knitters who can offer you some sound advice and tips.

So, you’re going to a knitting group meeting. Don’t know what to expect?

Do you feel intimated by experienced knitters?

Are you shy around people you don’t know?

You can bring something you know about like your knitting gadgets, books, and finished knitting projects. For instance, aren’t you:

Curious to know how knitters used a knitting gadget you have?

What they think of the knitting magazine you just read?

Are they thinking of buying a knitting book you already have?

Bringing these 6 things to a knitting group meeting can help you “break the ice.” You can start a conversation on knitting, and make you feel more comfortable. You can choose to bring only 1 thing or all 6. They’re instant conversation starters. I bring all 6 in a backpack.

Knitting Gadgets

Have you seen an interesting knitting gadget at the Jo-Ann or Michael’s store? The ones that cost under $20. Don’t you wish they had a “tester” to try before you bought it? Do you read online reviews but want to try it for yourself? Here’s your chance to help other knitters “test” a knitting gadget. They will appreciate it. Bring a knitting gadget to the meeting and tell them that they can try it out, and what you thought of it. Was it worth your money? Too slow? Broke after a few minutes?

For example, I bought the Knit-Wit Loom at the Jo-Ann store in Porter Ranch for $8. I bought it because the flowers looked like a quick way to knit square flowers and make a diamond-shaped scarf. It took me an hour to understand how to make the border. Imagine all the time I would have saved if a knitter showed me how she made flowers with the knit wit loom. When I went to a West Hills, CA SnB meeting, I brought the knit wit loom and 2 scarves I made with it.

Knitting Books

Have a knitting book? It could be either a pattern book, a technique book like mosaic knitting, or a knitting novel, like “Chicks with Sticks.” Feel free to bring the knitting book to the meeting. Lay it on the table and tell the knitters they’re welcome to browse it. You’ll see knitters putting their projects down to rest their hands and looking at your book. Some might browse it right before leaving.

How can your knitting book start a conversation with knitters? Easy. You’ll get questions like, where did you buy it, did you like it, knit anything from it, and is it worth buying. Please answer their questions.

For instance, bought your knitting books from Amazon? How much was it? You can also see if they already have books that are on your Amazon wishlist!

Do you get your knitting books from Zooba instead? Some knitters might not know about their program. It’s $9.95 for any book each month with free shipping, including knitting books. If you’re on Zooba, are you happy with their service? Do they have a wide knitting book selection? How convenient is it? Would you recommend them to sign up?

Knitting Magazines

One thing is feeling self-conscious browsing a knitting magazine at the store. Why not let others see the magazine. Did you knit a pattern in the magazine? What do you think of the pictures? You see there are plenty of ideas on how you can start a conversation at the knitting group.

Finished Unique Knitting Projects

Knitters are always looking for some fresh ideas. Do you have a unique knitting project? Your own design? Hey, bring it to the meeting. If you don’t know many knitting friends, now is your time to let other knitters appreciate the time you spent on a project. When you finished your project, was it what you expected?

Knitting Accessories You Made

Do you carry handmade knitting accessories in your knitting bag? Kindly show them to the knitters at the meeting. In case they want to try to make it themselves, let them know how you made them.

For example, did you make your own stitchmarkers? Your own needlecase? Found a creative way to make the flat end of the needle look nice? Have you made a handy notebook with all the patterns you know?

Your current knitting project and open mind

Bring what you’re working on to the meeting. Don’t just sit there and knit it. You can do that at home. Be open to suggestions from other knitters regarding your current project.

For instance, are you knitting a project with 2 or more colors? Let them know what color technique you’re using and what it’s supposed to look like when it’s done. Do you plan to knit the colors using slipped stitches, fair isle, double knitting, or duplicate stitch? Are they letters, stripes, or monograms to personalize your knitting? Some might tell you they only tried a duplicate stitch or recommend you books or knitters who have knit with color using slipped stitches.

For example, I went to a West Hills, CA SnB meeting and started to knit a blue soccer scarf with the white letters of the team, c-h-e-l-s-e-a. I used slipped stitches to make the white letters but after making the letter “A” the scarf curled up. I also didn’t like how the slipped stitches in the back of the letter made the scarf feel bulky. A knitter from the group suggested to make the white letters with double knitting and I’d finish quicker. I proceeded to knit the blue scarf and until the end I’ll add the white letters.

Don’t forget to kindly ask other knitters what they’re working on. See if you or someone you know knitted something similar and tell them about it.

There’s no need to feel intimidated at a knitting group meeting. Bringing one of these 6 things to the meeting can help you start a conversation on knitting with knitters.

Just learned to knit? Got books from the library with nice patterns? Sometimes when you knit it, it doesnt look like the picture from the book. You can do 2 things. Pay for a knitting class at a local yarn shop which ranges from $80 for 4 sessions to more than $100. What if you dont have the time to take the class just yet, or if its outside of your budget? Here is your answer: Join a knitting group! The friendly knitters will gladly answer some of your knitting questions, and get the help you need. Is it worth your time? Are there knitters from my age group? Here are 5 reasons to join a knitting group:

1) To understand a written knitting pattern in a book

Cant figure out a written knitting pattern with abbreviations and no explanations? Do the symbols in the knitting chart look overwhelming? When a new knitter wants to make challenging knitting patterns, theyll get a knit stitch dictionary book. They cant wait to knit patterns like the ones in the pictures.

Sometimes the drawings and explanations of terms like pass slipped stitch over are not too clear. Dont be frustrated! Bring the written knitting pattern with you to the knitting group, and kindly ask a member to help you figure out what you are doing wrong. For example, you want to try a vine pattern and want to know if others run into the same problems you have. They might know some tips to make the vine pattern stay flat or modify it, so it looks like you want it to look.

2) To make new knitting friends.

Lets say youre a new knitter. Youre so happy when you knit but you havent met anyone else that knits. You want to tell someone what your next knitting project is, or want to know if anyone else tried a yarn brand you like. What can you do? Join a knitting group. Talk about yarn and needles with other knitters in the group! You can also learn new techniques for your next project, and make a knitting friend you can stay in touch with to knit, shop for yarn, or just talk knitting.

If you want to meet knitters your age, its time to get out there and meet knitters. Dont be lazy by just looking for knitters your age online. Not every knitter your age spends much time online. Remember that when you meet a knitter in person at a t knitting group, they usually already have a group of knitting friends. They might know knitting friends who have things in common with you. .

Think you will not find knitters your age in the knitting group? You wont know, unless you start going to the meetings. There are plenty of knitting groups that meet weekly and have pictures on their blogs. So, there are no excuses for you not to find knitting friends of your age.

3) Get Motivated to finish a Work in Progress (WIP)

Is your list of WIPS growing? Sometimes it helps to share your WIPs with another knitter so you get encouraged to finish a WUP. Others can help you underant why youre putting off a WIP. For instance, you didnt know that it was because the pattern is too simple, dont really like the yarn, dont like the colors you chose and want to try it with another color. These are things that a knitter might not want to admit to himself sometimes, but others can show it to you. It never hurts to get a second opinion on your WIP to improve it.

4) To Get New Ideas by Seeing Other Projects.

Youre finishing your WIPs (work in Progress) but seem to go blank when it comes to new ideas. You go online and see pictures of knitted projects, see pictures in knitting magazines and dont get inspired with a new idea yet. Start branching out and opening your mind to new types of projects.

See what other knitters in your group are knitting. Ask them how they got the ideas for their project. Are they knitting it for a friend? Ask them where they get ideas for a knitting project. For example, a member might be knitting a sock in the round with beautiful pink yarn. Just seeing the yarn being worked at can inspire you to try a new yarn color, or a lace pattern.

5) Write About it in Your Knitting Blog

Are you a knitter that writes a knitting blog? Are you familiar with the common problem of posting knitting related things only? What about if you havent knit much in 5 days and therefore cant post any pictures. You can either tell you readers about non-knitting things or about what you liked about a knitting group meeting you went to.

Remember many knitters dont belong to a knitting group. They are curious to know where the meeting took place, how many members attended, how old they were, and what they knit. For example, you can post pictures of you and the members knitting, and write about knitting techniques or tips you learned. After seeing your post about the knitting group meeting you went to, some readers might even want to join a knitting group. How about meeting your readers and letting them know when the next knitting group meeting is?

I hope these 5 reasons to join a knitting group will motivate you to make new knitting friends and finish your WIPS. Now, you have a knitting related topic to put on your blog when you dont have any knitting news. You have no more excuses to join a knitting group.

The Lionel Polar Express Train Set – A Excellent Train For The Holidays The Polar Express is a tale authored by Chris V an Allsburg during the eighties and which was subsequently made into a well-received picture in 2004. Made by filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, The Polar Express began screening in movie theaters on Thanksgiving of 2004, and starred the well-known actor Tom Hanks. With revolutionary animation the story line followed a young person’s quest to work out all there was to know concerning Santa Claus. The Polar Express is a moniker given to the train during the film. Concerned solely with providing children with adventures, this locomotive travels back and forth to the North Pole.

Thanks to the recognition of this picture, a lot of individuals desired to bring home a train created in the likeness of the Polar Express. Wanting to relive the story they saw in the movie, kids who liked model trains longed for a Polar Express Set of their own. A leader in the model train field, Lionel provided the Polar Express train set, continuing it’s long tradition of constructing outstanding toy trains. With youngsters having more and more of an interest in digital electronic toys, the Polar Express model train set brought a renewed interest in toy trains to boys and girls.
In producing the Lionel Polar Express, the company truly spared no expense in producing an outstanding train set. The locomotive is made from diecast metal that includes a matte surface, and it bears a awfully close resemblance to the initial Polar Express. The coach vehicle in the set is painted to depict individuals as silhouettes sipping steaming drinks as they sit by the windows. Perfectly fitted to your Holiday decorating wants, the Polar Express train’s track is an oval shaped forty” x sixty”, that means that it will work nicely around your Christmas tree.

You will get pleasure from the realistic nature of the Lionel Polar Express train set, with it’s air whistle, functioning headlight, and smoke stack that emits real smoke. The observation car looks very authentic, and there’s interior lighting in the passenger cars. This O gauge train set is of such a size as to fit tight areas of your home and yet has an unimaginable degree of detail. If your child has seen The Polar Express film, the matching train set would be a wonderful way to get them interested in the hobby of toy trains. Toy train enthusiasts have added these model trains to their collections due to the realistic features and prime quality workmanship that Lionel designed into the Polar Express train sets. Although they are already not the smallest amount high-priced train set out there these days, they actually are 1 of the the majority of unique sets currently offered and should be element of your train collection.

Scrapbooking is an awesome hobby where the artist creates a book of photos adding embellishments and journals for the purpose of preserving the life or lives of the people in the scrapbook. To accomplish this project, you will need loads scrapbooking supplies and equipment, including the Scrapbooking Paper Cutter and scrapbooking paper cutter machine.

Of course, the most important scrapbooking supply is the album itself which can be permanently bound or allow insertion of pages. Other formats: mini-albums and accordion style fold-out albums.

Basic materials, supplies and equipment are: background paper (including printed and cardstock paper), photo corner mounts, cutters, scissors, knives and blades, cutting mats, paper trimmer, rulers, staplers, trimmers, art pens, archival pens for journaling, and glue. More elaborate designs need some special tools as die cut templates, rubber stamps, craft punchers, stencils, inking tools, eyelet setters, heat embossing tools and personal die cut machine.

The use of the scrapbook Die Cutting Machine has become extremely popular in recent years. In fact, a number of electronic die cut machine resembling a plotter with a drag knife have hit the market. This is a great innovation.

A knife with a strong and versatile blade allows you to cut about anything into any shape. Just be sure to place the object you plan to cut on a cutting mat before using the knife. Some croppers prefer to use paper cutter over the knife for the former provides precision trimming of materials as papers, cardlock, cardboard, film, velum and illustration board.

Scrapbookers insist in using acid-free and lignin-free papers to preserve photographs and journals in their original state. They want to use only the highest quality materials.

The aesthetic product of the scrapbookers cannot be given birth if not for the scrapbook supplies and equipment, like the album, scrapbooking cutter, scrapbooking cutter machine, knives and blades, cutting mats, die cut machines, rulers, scissors, staplers, trimmers and a lot of others.

If you are looking for Photo Storage Products, that is a great link for you.
