I have just realized that I would love to take every single Addi and Skacel (which distribures Addi) and get my money back. Unfortunately that is impossible. They’re overall an adequate needle; however, I am a lace knitter. I use 0, 1, 2, 3 consistently. These brands deviate from needle gage size. #1 should be 2.25mm – theirs is 2.5mm. #2 should be 2.75mm. – theirs is 3.0 mm. As a lace knitter, large projects (1000+ stitches) are common; it is usual to use several circular needles – mix and match. I’ve been wondering for a long time why some of my projects didn’t come out quite as expected. Some came out right, because the needle size was correct. But some were slightly off. Now I know why. I was using needles by Addi or Skacel and the needle size is their size, not the size most of us grew up with and have done many projects on. My knitting group newsletter has had numerous articles on these 2 brands – they’re everywhere (easy to get), but the articles always have an underlying tone of “what’s up? Why aren’t we satisfied? They should be very good, so why are we still looking for something else?”
